“So, uh.” America took a sip of the single glass of ice water between them. Then another. The taste of water is somehow different, more pure and refreshing, with ice crea- gelato, she reminds herself. “That is- did you?”
“Ah!” Italy perks up, her smile bright enough to light the room if it weren’t already done up in fluorescent. “We did! Germany’s not so good with words about that sort of thing, but it’s not like he doesn’t want to too, right?”
She nods in response. Italy’s always been more open about this sort of thing than her: it’s something about having a reputation as a country of romance, she always figured. Her own history was… less of that. But then her people nowadays enjoyed their romance movies, and the dancing girls on all the top music charts, and stuff like that—

“Russia’s kind of the same?” She phrases it as a question—half because her people are known for making questions out of things that aren’t, and half because she’s actually not entirely sure.

To clear things up, America didn't really have any grand fall like russia did, he just isn't at the top, so no grand "AMERICA IS DEAD." plot, he just isn't at the top, and no "AMERICA IS TRYING TO TOPPLE CHINA IN HIS EEEEEVIL JEALOSY" plot either, he's actually rather happy. People don't hate him nearly as much anymore, he might actually be in almost isolationism.

Later he'd spotted America trapped in a corner with a furious France hissing trade implications, deteriorating foreign relations at the tan nation before stalking off.
One day he'd pulled a muscle playing footie in London's parks. Unable to walk right, he'd limped into the meeting and felt Canada's eyes linger on him. That night the two North American brothers had to be forcibly separated when their fight took a turn for the worst. He knew the truth and it never failed to amuse him as America wore high collared shirts and long sleeves even in the heat of summer to hide the bruises and bites. He laughed at everyone's ignorance at why America spaced out on meetings - all the little toys ensured that America's attention was never far from him. Let everyone think America didn't care.

However, it is the similarly injured Turkey that reveals that the boy is actually the TRNC - his and Greece's illegitimate son.
I don't care if this has a happy ending or not, I just want to see some emotional family dynamic. Considering that Turkey is the only nation that recognizes the TNRC, I can imagine that the boy would have some very serious 'daddy issues' concerning Greece.
