Naw, I wouldn't call that off the mark. They're drawing a line between love and lust and frolicking on the lust side with the DRUGS and cutting Lovino's preferences out if the equation. He's being objectified in a way that's cruel and yet still appealing for both parties, but at the end of the day he has the choice to climb down off the shelf and be a person again.
