In WWII, the famous Lipizzan horses of the ancient Spanish Riding School of Vienna were threatened. The Austrian stick-up-his-butt head of the school works to save them by appealing to General Patton. He would write a book about it and Disney made a movie.

Operation Cowboy was a bit more complicated. To move the horses, the 2nd Cavalry used volunteers: local Czechs, Poles, anti-Communist Cossacks, and even the German vets.
