The next meeting w/ Francis after Arthur from above
“Thank you, Tino,” the King of Diamonds breathed. “Just so you know, he doesn’t know anything…I didn’t want to force anything. As far as Alfred knows, this is a learning experience of sorts.
I’ll bring him along every week. Frances, I trust you. As young as you are, as persuasive as you are, my son is fragile. Don’t…don’t scare him, if you really care,” Tino Oxenstierna whispered. He glanced down the hall to see Alfred picking at his teeth, and flinched. “I find it somewhat surprising you’ve gotten your sights on him, even though he is my son.”
“I promise you. He’s all that matters,” Frances smiled.
“Alright. Good luck, my King.”
Francis’s head dug into the cup of his hands.
It had been weeks. WEEKS.
And still Alfred had not gotten the clue. He had lamented privately to Tino, but the boy’s mother and sighed and said that this is why things had to move slowly. Alfred could do anything with numbers and science, but other things took him a while. A servant dashed into the kitchen alerting Francis of the Oxenstiernas’ arrivals.
“Do you have a knack for art, Alfred?” Francis piqued quietly, stepping to Alfred’s view. Alfred, who had been sitting rather sloppily pulled himself together and looked at the King of Diamonds.
“Oh-oh! Hey, Francis,”
“Hello, yourself.” Francis smiled warmly. “Come, join me upstairs. Your mom’s gone to speak with the Jack.”
“Oh, Vash’s busy again. Damn.” Alfred sulked.
The two blondes made their way up to a spacious room that Francis kept for stress-relieving painting. Alfred’s eyes widened at all covered paintings standing on easels.
“Oh, crap, did you paint all these?” Alfred tried to lift the corners of one of the paintings. Francis dashed to swat the younger man’s arm.
“Not that one…It’s uh, a bit naturel for your eyes,” the King apologized. He smiled nervously. When Alfred gave him a weird look, Francis rushed to the corner and picked up a blank canvas. “Uh, would you like to-?”
“Sure!” Alfred laughed, setting the canvas on the blank easel. “I love art!”
And Francis had to agree that he did, silently thanking Tino for the idea.
“Diamonds really liked their art, huh?” Alfred joked. “Saw a bunch of naked ol’ ladies in the hallway, the other day.”
“We have pervs for past monarchs,” Francis muttered. He was slightly annoyed that Alfred had brought that up.
Reason #12403 the world though the King of Diamonds was a manwhore.
He hadn’t expected Alfred to burst out at that honest answer.
“That’s awesome. Your guests must love it,” Alfred joked. “I’ve never seen so much nakedness. It’s nakedness you’re working on isn’t it?” The teenager waggled his eyebrows.
“No!” Francis said hastily. His easel blocked Alfred from viewing. “But, uh, like I said, it’s very…not for your eyes.”
Alfred whistled, lifting his arms in surrender.
The two continued small talk for a good 15 minutes. The constant sound of paint and
“You’re very good,” Francis complimented.
Unlike the King, who kept to realism and perfected anatomy, Alfred had his own unique way to express emotion. Simple figures and loud colours really opened Francis’s eyes to art.
Add another reason as to why Alfred is loveable
“I know!” Alfred boasted, giving his painting another swirl. “You’re kind of cool when you’re all chill in your art mode, man.”
Francis smiled to himself. “Art is calming, non?” The King smiled at his picture and walked to the corner to pick up some more paint. He turned back around to nearly drop his palette.
“Oh, crap, this is-“
In obvious fine detail, Francis had been painting the bottom half of a man’s face, a rose being held at his lips. The sky was dark, fading to light and sun.
“Sheeet, you’re…you’re really good.” Alfred murmured, glancing back at his own art.
Francis worried that it was a bit too obvious who had inspired the painting.
All Alfred was thinking was how much he sucked at painting.
