Berwald Oxenstierna grunted a hello to the townspeople he could recognize as he jogged up the short steps to the town post office. After the anniversary that had been cut short due to the weather, the man knew eventually he would have to get back to the routine of work, and dealing with diplomacy issues. Just today, there should been a stacks of papers of updates from his colleagues in Clubs, and so Tino had sent him off to the post office as he kept the house in order while their twin boys finished up lessons.
The post man waved at Berwald, already shuffling through shelves for the weekly lot of mail for him. “Good morning, Waldy~!”
“Berwald,” the man corrected, again. “Is it a whole lot?”
“Not today. You’ve got some for an ‘Alfred’ though? Under your address, yes?”
Berwald blinked. “Hand it over.” The postman nodded and leafed through the other envelopes and papers. “Uh, ooh, this looks fancy. His Majesty, the King of Diamond's seal is on it-“ Berwald’s mouth opened, grabbing the letter that was sealed with the wax.
“Something wrong?”
“I just wonder what trouble m’boy got himself into.” Berwald lamented. He flipped the letter. “I wonder if he broke something. Should probably let Tino take a look.”
He thanked the chuckling post man, and left the office with the letter from Diamonds high up on his list of interests. Berwald had lied- he knew that if Alfred ever broke anything, or got into any trouble at the Diamonds palace, Vash would come over with an un-amused scowl. Berwald had the other letters tucked under his arm, with the regal letter from Diamonds. Guilt washed over him, but the red wax alerted red lights. His thumb ‘accidentally’ brushed the envelope open and immediately he withdrew the letter out.
In excellent penmanship, the calligraphy was requesting a dinner from his youngest son. In short, Berwald knew what this meant.
The King of Diamonds was courting ALFRED, Berwald’s youngest son.
“Uhm, nope,” Berwald mused. He realized then that he was near his estate.
Oh god. Poor Alfred. Though we know what happens, still. *cringes*
So, he got an "official letter" from Francis first. Interesting.
“Well, I’ll love him to have him. I’d LOVE to have him.” Arthur mused. I love this line. It seems to sum up the whole fill, and its prompt, so far, so very well. Arthur, if you want to keep him you'll need to love him more. Again, poor Alfred.
lol serioulsy i say this ever chapter, but I hope Arthur does fall in love with Alfred and not all about competition! But never less I love how you wrote that chapter the banter between francis and arthur were perfect
I'm just going to say UKUS/USUK has always been my OTP XD It's very painful writing mean Arthur -you can tell how bad it is LOL-
I originally didn't want to say anything as to not ruin the surprise or anything, but don't worry. As it progresses, Arthur won't stay ice cold forever etc.
And that just makes things even more messy, eh? x)
