I love how you've explained a bit of the nature of the geography of Underhill. I love the references to The Princess Bride, I love pop-culture, literary, and references of all kinds though, which you've provided in no short supply. You have my geeky heart aflutter.
Parts of what you've hinted at make me think that Alfred might be left-handed or possibly cross-dominant or even ambidextrous, but that's because I'm cross-dominant/ambi. I'd probably have to go back and read through to remind myself, or hunt down the clues. Although, I will probably be going back at sometime to re-read this anyway.
I loved the memory Alfred had of Arthur singing! I just love the idea of Arthur singing. And the bit about languages. I am such a linguistics geek it's not funny; it is almost as bad as my lit-geekiness and my music geekiness. I'll just confess to be a cultural and humanities geek, I suppose. Anyway, I've babbled away in my comment long enough.
Poor Alfred that was quite a tough test for him to overcome to continue in his journey to retrieve Arthur. I just want to huggle him! I want to huggle you too, for this fantastic fill.
