Not OP here, just a random anon who enjoyed this greatly. It was cute, but not too sweet. Also, I don't think you have gotten too wordy, I happen to like long descriptions, but I guess this depends on personal tastes :) Anyway, I really like the fact that you put this into an historical context, even an ambiguous one. Now, I'm frustrated like hell because english is not my first language and I can't properly express how much I liked this story...Just know that I did :)
