Ohhh. Too far. Too far too soon. That's not....what you say. D'aw, Mathias, he just has no damn clue that what he said - about an eleven-year-old - is super creepy and why it's super creepy. And that he doesn't realise she's picked up on it. That kind of naivete just makes me want to hug him. He means well, he really does!
To me, it's stereotypical Denmark that you have him run through all sorts of self psychoanalysis conclusions - all of which have shreds of truth - and that at the end of the day he pretty much ignores all of them. I think it shows he *can* really fine-tooth-comb his reactions and motivations .... buuut he usually winds up just getting a case of the fuck-it's at the end. asflkhaf he's just so precioussss. Your Denmark. I - I think I love him. <33
ALSO YES LUKAS POV *fist-pump* Awesome. I love how he simultaneously craves approval and disdains it. Mathias makes a fantastic foil to him, not only because Lukas is mature where Mathias is not, but also because every single barb Lukas throws seems to literally bounce off and get completely ignored. (Myself, I'm not quite so convinced of Mathias' impenetrability...)
(the end bit just cinched it for me, because it summarised my headcanon: Denmark latches on hard and fast to romantic targets, sometimes so quickly that he doesn't wholly realise on a conscious level that he's sort of 'after' someone. Especially if it's someone he shouldn't be after in the first place. I'm really excited to see the roles Gilbert and Artie'll play. Gilbert I expected to be in here somewhere - that guy just sorta gets around - but Arthur's a welcome new addition to a Nordics-fic and I'm so stoked to see what he'll get up to with Mathias.
