Shrug. “A lot.” Antonio took another sip; it was more tolerable now. “Enough so that they’ll moan enough to raise the dead when they wake up.” He chanced a look at Ludwig.
Ludwig had a fondly exasperated smile. “Just like my brother,” he commented.
Antonio nodded, and took a leap. “About last night…”
Almost as quickly as it came, the smile was off Ludwig’s face and replaced with a blush. Antonio couldn’t decide which one he liked more. “What about it?” Ludwig asked cautiously.
Antonio wasn’t so tipsy as to completely forget everything that had occurred. He did remember smashing his lips against Ludwig’s (which was a waste, he thought, his first kiss with Ludwig should’ve been something more romantic). “Ah, it’s nothing,” Antonio, and he was almost hurt by the relieved expression on Ludwig’s face.
fourth day.
“Hey,” Gilbert confronted Antonio grumpily over the phone. “My little brother can’t look me in the face without blushing, and I think it’s your fault.”
“What did I do?”
“I’m not sure, I’m just blaming you.”
“That’s not really fair~”
“Well, shit. Anyways, if you really have to go after him, at least—“
“Oh, do I get permission? Thank you! Thank you so much Gilbert!”
“Hey, wait just one—“ The line went dead.
On the other side, Antonio brushed his lips with his fingertips and smiled secretively.
fifth day.
Ludwig shifted uncomfortably, closing the door behind him as he entered. Why was here again? Oh yes, because Gilbert had threatened to lock him out of the house if he didn’t come to the chemistry room after school and damnit Ludwig Beilschmidt I don’t care if you have soccer practice you are fucking going. So Ludwig went.
Only to meet a certain Antonio Carriedo, who was smiling in a manner rather unsettling.
“Ludwig, I’m happy you came!” Antonio chirped, flying to his side as Ludwig stiffly walked in.
“Ah,” Ludwig acknowledged. “Is there…something you need me for?”
Antonio’s grin grew wider. “Go out with me, please.”
Ludwig’s heart stopped beating. “I’m—“
“I know you said you’re straight, but,” and here Antonio paused, “if I do this—“ and he swooped closer, and brushed his lips oh-so-gently across Ludwig’s. Really, it didn’t count as a kiss, just a faint contact of skin upon skin, but Ludwig still flared crimson.
“—will you change your mind?”
Ludwig’s brain short-circuited. “I-I-I—“
Idiotically enough, at that moment Ludwig’s brain decided to inform him that Antonio’s eyes crinkled warmly whenever he smiled. “Meet me tomorrow after soccer practice, okay? It doesn't have to be a date.”
God, he even knows I have soccer practice--
"Fine," Ludwig blushes and folds his arms across his chest. He tells himself he's only reluctantly accepting.
Oh wow~! Thanks so much for writing this fill! I love the premise of it, first of all, how you divided up the chapters etc. It was quite clever. Second, looooove protective!Gilbert...yay~ His characterization made me squeal. Oh, and Ludwig playing soccer? Awesome!
