Pretty much! ._. I'm willing to bet that that kind of criticism happens to all dominant empires and super-powers to some extent, even if history doesn't always remember it. Whichever nation is currently "on top" has always been criticized for not intervening and abandoning others out when it chooses to mind its own business, but has ALSO always been criticized for interfering and being where it's unwanted when they do help like they're being pressured to; it's just universal, I think. Though depressing, when you're from that particular nation! OTL
Ah, I wasn't trying to "correct" you or anything; I just happened to know from a history class back in the day, when I kept making jokes about the empire and the Victorian Era, and my world history teacher started sharing fun facts like that. And about all the weird repressed Victorian stuff! XD
Yeah, I've noticed that! America in particular is kinda damned-if-you-do-and-damned-if-you-don't...idk, they can't solve everything, stop expecting them to!:(
Your history teacher sounds awesome! The only Victorian stuff we really did was the Irish Cultural Revival, which was interesting but it would've been nice to do other countries' history during that period as well.:(
Those songs are ridiculously catchy. It's like they were created to be earworms. The only problem with them is a lot of Irish rebel songs are very pro-IRA, which can get a little...awkward sometimes OTL.
Ahaha, my nation is just damned in general, I guess! XD
Yeah, we weren't really supposed to be doing that, but we had a little extra time, and I ... came up with some excuse to bring up Victorian England and the British Empire. Maybe I was just comparing empires and mocking weird, hypocritical views of sexuality, I guess? (Ugh, it's just impossible to study enough history in school; there's so much to learn, and we never study 90% of it! D:)

Ah, yeah. Exceedingly awkward, I'd say! ._.
