Nation A loses their memory. Nation B approaches them, attempting to renew/repair their relationship, but Nation A rejects becoming closer with Nation B due to not remembering them at all and thus not trusting them.
Nation B is very hurt, but eventually still does begin to renew their friendship/relationship with Nation A, and they become close again, but they're not together - just friends. After a while, Nation A realizes everything Nation B does seems to be sparking Nation A's memory - finally they remember that Nation B was their lover. Happy ending, please?
Any pairing is fine, but I would really like if Nation A was Germany, France, or Japan. You get a bonus if the pairing is GerIta or FrUK. Another bonus for smut. Pairing order/names don't matter either.
