"Well you'll be getting an…ah 'allowance' for things. If you want to work I have a visa set up for you so you can earn your own money." Matthew replied, sipping on his coffee again, "You can work anywhere you'd like, I'll even put a good word in for you to work at local mayor's office if you want."
To say that he was shocked was an understatement. "This is really all too much . . . I-I'm a country you own you shouldn't be doing all these things for me. . ."
"Well I realized that you'd probably want to work, to earn your own and be able to do things on your own. While I'm afraid I won't be able to pay for everything I do want to give you a chance to do these things on your own." Matthew said, smiling kindly, "It’s just what we do here in Canada."
Toris nodded trying to fight back tears. "All this. . .the room, the coat, o-offering to help me find a job. . .it's really too much. I don't deserve any of this."
"You're not a slave Toris, what Ivan did, is doing, is wrong. I just wanted to help you out. Maybe through this you'll be able to help your brothers." Matthew said, smiling kindly.
"Thank you Matthew. If I can save my brother's than nothing else matters to me." Truly to Toris saving his brothers was most important, especially since his own position had suddenly gotten so much better in comparison. "If you will help me then I would love to get a job."
Toris nodded, he knew that fair amounts of his people were often coming over to Matthew's home. Not only that but Toris also spoke Russian as well as a number of other languages including French, for awhile it had been all the rage in Russia after all. "I won't let you down! I will make sure to excel in any job I get!" He said enthusiastically.
"I know you will." Matthew said kindly, patting Toris' hand, "So! Now that you've got a coat…do you want to go shopping, maybe get you some work clothes?"
Mama was so focused as he worked the puck over to Papa’s side, it came back again but he seemed determined to make a quick goal. Peter was impressed; at least until thirty-one seconds in when Papa tripped Mama. “
"Well I suppose I will need a suit for work but I have to get a job before I worry about that." He did have his military uniform with him as well as a worn out suit Ivan had gotten him for when he was allowed to attend meetings as his secretary. "Anything I need though I will be sure to pay you back for. I promise!"
"Alright, so how about we go look some clothes up for you." Matthew replied.
Nodding eagerly Toris quickly finished of his drink. "That would be wonderful."
"Okay! It’s a date then." Matthew said with a warm smile, finishing his cookie, "Are you ready?"
"Of course"' Toris said answering Matthew's smile with a shy one of his own. The date comment went right over his head luckily saving him from blushing like a fool. "I hope it's not too far out of the way though, I'm sure you have other things you need to do that are much more important."
"Heh no way, I took today off." Matthew laughed, leading Toris out of the coffee shop and through the mall. "We'll look at lots of other places; we'll get you all ready for life in Canada."
Smiling Toris nodded. “Thank you again Matthew, for everything. It all means so much to me."
"N-No problem," Matthew stuttered, blushing a bit as they went into a store to begin to look for a suit. The shopping trip would last the rest of the day and well past dinner which they had at a cute little restaurant in the mall. By the time they got back Toris was too exhausted to do anything other than crawl into bed and fall asleep.
"Mama was so focused as he worked the puck over to Papa’s side, it came back again but he seemed determined to make a quick goal. Peter was impressed; at least until thirty-one seconds in when Papa tripped Mama. “ ... is that supposed to be there? Interesting fill, anon. I'd like to see how this turns out...
I had wished that this would be a Canada/othernation fic where for once, America isn't in some way shown to be 'worse' in order for Canada to look 'better'. But, oh well.
America isn't so much shown as worse he's just being a brat and jealous. There's reasons behind his reactions. And Canada isn't being shown to be better either. Trust me on that one.
I'm really enjoying this so far- so curious to see what's going to happen between these too. When I read the request, I thought Canada would make an interesting owner, so I'm glad you went with him! Looking forward to more~
Awesome! I was really hoping this request would be filled, and what you're doing with it is pretty brilliant so far :D I'm really curious as to see what will happen next...smut? Romance? Jealousy?
Honestly I was scared of what was going to happen with Toris, until Matthew shows up and first then, I felt relieved and I really love this story! Please continue soon! :D
