Err..what should I do if I have a longer work (like 12000 words) with a lot of smutty scenes, some of which are kind of long? .___.

yet another diff anon

Go by the pace of the individual scenes. I prefer authors to update with entire coherent scenes and not try to cut it off at awkward places to try and tease the audience (it's not cute, guys) or for reasons of not writing the next bit yet (not a cliff hanger and this sort of thing reads poorly if you follow along with the updates). It's quite possible to have a sequence of smutty scenes where the action in several scenes changes from one focal point to another and cut it between points so you're posting half of a scene at a time.

That's all if you're slowly updating instead of just putting it all out in very large chunks. If you've got a fill mostly written and ready to go, never worry about how many comment boxes you're using as long as you're putting up enough to come to a natural stopping point, a lull or shift in the action.

Honestly, 12000 words total spread out a bit doesn't seem long at all when you've got a lot of distinct scenes that will act as breaks. If you had one smutty scene that was 12000 words, that's when you need to be worried about overwhelming the audience all at once.

not the anon you were writing that reply to, but. . .

Thank you! I'm actually going through a similar dilemma now, so this was really helpful. ;D
