Raivis laid a few feets away from him, the huge red spots on his head and the similar red stained kettle were the only evidence of them having collided against eachother. But it was fine now, Eduard assured. Raivis was no longer choking on his own tears, no longer rambling incoherently inbetween sobs that only further soured Eduard's mood and made the knots in Toris' stomach tighten to the point that he doubled over in pain. Words were like an infection, and Toris' was soon infected; he had been unable to keep quiet after a while, panic poured over him and stuck onto his skin, sucking all rationality and logic out of him like leeches.

Eduard had tried to calm them, asked them to be quiet, telling them to stop scaring themselves. He hated when they spoke, wishing to go back to the days when they could understand and express themselves without any sounds, when they used silence to quench eachothers fears. Now the words ran out of their mouth like waterfalls, unstoppable and endless, creating sounds that were like nails on a chalkboard in Eduard's ears.

They would have kept talking, kept drowning themselves in cold, irrational worries and would have infected Eduard as well hadn't he lifted the kettle and swung it against Raivis' head.

The first blow had created a brief silence and when the shock wore off and they found their voices once more, they resumed to their panic, now much more louder and more frantic, screaming and perhaps also trying to talk to him -"Stop it, Eduard!", "Please stop!".

Eduard had simply struck them another time, and another and another, another and yet another time, aiming to create a lasting silence and peace between them, all the while he explained the flaws in their logic, pointing how they didn't and couldn't add up.

They screamed, but Eduard didn't raise his voice to overpower theirs. His words were calm and friendly, as if talking about the weather or how his small garden had grown well this year, and not even when the red liquid splattered onto the floor and walls did his voice change its pace and tone. Words were like an infection, and he didn't want his brothers to get any more sick than they were.

Raivis was the first to be silenced. His voice had simply got weaker and weaker as the the hits got stronger and more merciless, his screams and cries turning into small and weak whimpers before he no longer had the strenght to press out another sound. Toris' was silenced more abruptly, muted in the middle of a shriek, a powerful blow against his skull.

The long awaited silence finally filled the room and Eduard began to prepare some tea. The feeling of understanding slowly filled him and it was as if he knew his brothers much more better all of a sudden. They bled because their skulls and skins were cracked, they weren't moving and talking anymore because they were no longer responsive to their environment. They did not panic because there was nothing for them to panic about. It all made sense.

Eduard sighed in content and took his cup of tea to the kitchen table. Silence. Even though the red pools on the floor, stains on the wall and kettle and the unnatural way Toris' arm bended were like pieces of jigsaw puzzles that wouldn't fit into the beautiful image in Eduard's mind, he was instantly washed over with the sense of serenity, of home and comfort. He sat down and enjoyed the silence, enjoyed his tea. The metallic taste lingered in his tongue.

I'm almost at a loss for words to describe how good this fill was. Everything was very subtle and understated. The whole thing is filled with this strange sense of calm that really puts us into Eduard's mindset. It's really chilling and overall very well-written.

I really, really like this. :D The subtlety of it makes it that much more creepier. And I really loved the reasons for him loving silence.

Great interpretation anon~!
