Erik always feels weird tethering his bike outside the bar, but he chains it to the light post anyways and heads inside. Berwald is behind the counter, and Tino is scrubbing tables that look clean already. This is a bad sign because Tino cleans when he’s nervous, but he’s always nervous after last year so maybe everything is fine. Erik clings to fine

This is why Erik misses the complex in the Boothill, he is losing the ability to read his pack. He sits at the corner of the bar and Berwald slides him a soda. The bar is closed for the day and the only other pack member to show so far is Ludwig, always punctual. Ludwig who Erik hasn’t seen in a year not since, not since the trouble, Ludwig is wearing a high collared shirt that almost covers the scars on his neck, almost, under Erik’s gaze he pulls it up subconsciously. He nods curtly at Erik and scoots closer to Feliciano, leaning into his side. As much as he can with Feliciano fidgeting as much as he is, nose buried in their adoptive pup’s hair, Peter has gotten bigger since Erik last saw him, definitely too big to be coddled.

But Feliciano has been so raw since last year, after… he pushes it away again. No point in dwelling on the past. Erik makes small talk with Tino and waits for the rest of the pack to filter in. Francis swaggers with a cloud of smoke, despite the posted sign. Chelle on is on his arm looking as nervous as Erik feels. Arthur is arguing with one son while the other slinks in behind them. More people filter in and the more nervous Erik gets, them being in one place got people hurt last time, and Kristian and Mathias are nowhere to be seen. Just as he pulls out his phone, they appear. Mathias looks awful his forhead is split and his eye is black, he laps slowly at a wound on his arm. Kristian elbows him into a booth near Erik.

Berwald clears his throat “ As ya can see Mathias has an announcement to make”

Mathias clears his throat “First off ya’ll should see the other bitch” no one laughs “Anyways we have a rouge wolf on our hands. I caught him picking off cattle and he isn’t one of us. This could blow our cover.”The bar explodes into activity Arthur yelling, Kristian vying to be top voice and Feliciano’a crying are most potent.

“Shut up!” Mathias barks finally “ The point is we need to find this guy and either initiate him or…” he falters looking at Ludwig “…get them away from us.So everyone keep their eyes and ears open who knows how long it’ll be till he switches to humans.”

Erik knew it would be bad news.

I had an internal WOO HOO when I saw this was filled. This is an awesome beginning, very tense -- I love the Denmark POV. Can't wait to see more!
