Wolfsbane - fin

Soon enough, they were at the door of their respective buildings. Funny how long they had crossed each other's paths and how he'd never noticed him as anything but a threat at the edge to be avoided.

Kiku took the package again once he was at the glass door of his company. He murmured a thank you as he took it; his back however, ached in protest.

He wondered again, why the trouble? Why would his protection mean anything? He turned back to Herakles and saw a gaze so fond, and caught the scent he hadn't before. It was a sweet, heady one. Yao had said it was much like opium.

Love. It was the same look Herakles had given him when he had woken from the first nap, from the misguided attempt of CPR on Kiku's part. The same heat under his skin, like a heat season pulled thin over the seasons.

"Will I see you tomorrow?" Herakles asked. He was calm again, no trace of the cynicism or anger that had shown on their trip.

"Maybe," Kiku said. "It would...make me happy to see you again."

"I'll be there," Herakles said. "If you tell me when your things ship, I can help you with them. My father wouldn't mind, he's very lax in things."

Kiku connected the dots together. "Your father is Julius Roma?" Kiku said, a little surprised.

Herakles nodded. "I have a lot of family...my father, it's like he's one of the rabbit tribe," Herakles said, shaking his head.

Even Kiku managed a slight smile, a polite chuckle at this.

Herakles tipped his hat, only to realize he hadn't worn his beret that day. He looked up, sleepy and a little confused at the air he was touching. He was beautiful, and gentle in a way that he hadn't noticed from the fear which had obscured everything but the scent, the tail and the ears which represented an old enemy. Even now, he admitted that his features, though canine, did look soft. And Kiku loved soft things. He had two rabbits, a guinea pig, and a fluffy little dog. Going home to take care of them was one of the highlights of the day.

Maybe, just maybe, Herakles would allow him to stroke them. If not, well there were times when he was napping that he could catch him unaware. He had once done it unmeaningly, he could do it again.

He knew the words before he said them. It was a betrayal of all the fear he held innately inside him as a prey, but right now Kiku was too drugged on the opium-scent going between them.

"After I post this, I'm heading home. If you are not busy, I'm making Shabu-Shabu for dinner tonight," Kiku said.

"Hmm?" Herakles looked up. When he blinked away the sleepy stupor he had fallen into, his tail began to wag. A little voice inside him told Kiku to fear, the gift from his tribe. He brushed the fear aside as illogical the little panic when he got on the bus.

After all, blood wasn't everything

That is so sweet! And lol, I laughed a little at the line about foxes. The whole thing was almost melancholic, which was nice because it helps lead insight to Kiku's thoughts about wolves and foxes. I love that Kiku's so smart and somewhat calculating whilst being quiet, while Greece is so warm and friendly to Kiku alone, and aggressive to others.

It's really nice that they overcame their differences in blood to be together too.

I think the above anon was talking about Arashi no Yoru Ni. It's even dubbed on youtube! ♥

Authoranooooon~. This is so freaking adorable, but melencholy, but sweet but sad asdfghjkl, I have not the words. As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the most in character things I've read for this couple. As the Japanese say, わい~すごく可愛いわよ!

Thank you very much for this adorabbly sweet gem for a fic.

(And 'm pretty sure that I fell in love with Greece. I need a boyfriend like that. And Japan's accidental kiss, omg, so cute.)

*loves on you*

This was just as cute and sweet as I was hoping it would be (Greece is just TOO CUTE for words, especially with that tail wagging of his), but at the same time it wasn't mindless fluff. There was actual discussion about the "wolves and sheeps are 'natural' enemies" and related prejudice, which made me happy, and little humorous tidbits like France's cameo and the "like one of the rabbit tribe" crack.

I also liked how you portrayed Japan - he's stoic, but not to the point of emotionlessness or immunity to love. He seemed to get over his initial fear of Greece rather quickly, but then again, how can anyone (bar Turkey and anyone else who tries to hit on Japan) stay afraid of Greece for long? And there's still that bit of wariness in Japan even at the very end, but it's clear that he's willing to give Greece a chance and that Greece isn't going to violate it.

So yes; in short, I really liked this fill. It strangely reminds me of your fill for nekomata!Greece - at least, it has the same kind of 'fairy tale' feel in spite of the surprising attention paid to detail, if that makes sense. (You do still have a few typos, though. Sorry, but I felt obliged to point that out too. XD)

AWWWWW When I saw the line "sheepdog" I don't know why but I think I MELTED. What an idea.. I just... awwwwwwwwww I LOVE THIS. Its so fun, that Hera sleeps so deep Kiku thought he was dead (I'm not surprised that hasn't happened more...). And the whole "rabbit tribe" quip about Roma *gigglesnorts* of course.
