I rather enjoyed this. I felt empathy with both sides, and angry at William, long after the fact. It's so easy to say "but that Boss was the monster, the nation wasn't responsible" but it's easier to blame the mass, because there's no way to truly be avenged. Just ways to return the blows.

The feast scene was especially powerful. There's a Philippines fic, where America is visiting, and P mentions how he's always hungry lately but keeps getting thinner--and America gives him this scared look. Because America knows and realizes what P doesn't, that this is a nation symptom of famine.

It was the same here. England is oblivious to all but his hunger, while everyone else knows why nothing satisfies him. *shudders*
