“I’m just going to go get a few things, and then I’ll come back.”
Arthur is hesitant about letting him go, “Are you sure?”
Knowing what Arthur’s thinking, Alfred smiles reassuringly believe in me takes his hand again, “Don’t worry, I’ll definitely come back! Heaven nor hell can keep me away from you.”
Laughs, “Besides, you weren’t able to keep me away were you?”
Or himself, Alfred wouldn’t let himself part from Arthur. Arthur was unable to let him go. Wasn’t this enough?
Arthur shakes his head, “No. It’s better if I go with you. Stay here, I’ll go get my coat-“
But Alfred grabs at his wrist, pulls him into an embrace, “Have a little faith okay? I’ll be back before you know it.”
Releases him, a wave. Already half jogging down the path to the metal gate. Arthur still standing at the door which is ajar, having bout to go get his coat, continues to look worried, a little less though. Makes a millionth of a difference, and Alfred beams at him.
“Wait for me!”
Just a little more.
Before turning sharply, not looking back or otherwise he’ll never go get his things and just stay with Arthur forever and ever, wants to, wants to more than he’s ever wanted anything. That train set for Christmas when he was nine, that last slice of apple pie, necessities like food and water. Thinks he needs Arthur even more than those things. Smiles at heart’s exaggerations, gives into them.
Smile relaxing, a frown almost dark as he makes it down the road, toward that fork. As he thinks of where he’s going and what he must return to Arthur from.
i don't want this to be over, ever! boy, am i ever so glad see that brothers resolved their shit. i liked reading about how alfred took matters into his own hands and no matter how cruel his methods may seem. it seems like they'll do what they can to stay together!
now if mrs. jones would kindly kneel over and die, the bitch. ^_*
