Peter made his way into the room, picking up the remote control and clicking it so the TV turned off, then standing next to the bed. “Most people’s definition of ‘Innocent fun’ isn’t finding “on demand porn” on the hospital television sets.”
“… I never said it was innocent.” Gilbert replied with a grumble. “But that’s not the point! You are here now so now I can demand your full attention and you can spoil me and wait on me and treat me like an awesome emperor!” he announced with a proud grin.
This burst of enthusiasm was rewarded with a light chuckle from Peter. He leaned down to press a gentle kiss onto Gilbert’s forehead. “Honestly, bunny. Sometimes I think you do these things on purpose just for an excuse to get spoiled.” He said, still amused.
“… You’re lucky that you didn’t use that nickname while anyone was around.” Gilbert said while attempting to glare at Peter but only succeeding in pulling off a funny look. Peter didn’t respond to that, only laughing a bit and putting a hand on his shoulder.
“So, Gil. Why are you here this time?” he questioned.
“Oh yeah… about that…” Gilbert started off then looked at the ceiling for a moment while attempting to figure out how to word his next sentence. Anytime it started out like that it was never a good thing. It meant something very strange happened, which needed to be re-worded by Gilbert to seem like the “awesome idea” it probably felt like the moment before it happened.
“Well… I decided to try to turn the stairs into a giant slide by riding down it on a couple of trays with Antonio and Francis. Of course, I was the first one to try it out because I am awesome and brave, and that would be pretty cool! Instead of sitting on the tray and riding down I decided to try to be extra awesome and stand on the tray while going down the stairs! And… well, someone must have left something on the stairs which ruined the path of the tray because I fell off of it and ended up falling down the stairs and passed out… but besides a couple of bruises I am fine! No internal damage or broken bones!” Gilbert explained. He finished off the explanation with a thumbs-up to Peter. “Now hand over your shirt. I am freezing cold and the nurses refuse to let me get my clothing back!” he added, tugging at the plastic thin hospital gown he wore.
Peter knew that this would happen so just shook his head a bit (giving himself a ‘See? Told you so.’) and sat down on the edge of the bed. “You know, most people would find the obsession you have with wearing my clothing creepy, if not just plain weird. Besides, don’t you have a ton of blankets on this bed?” Peter questioned, then looked down at the pile of blankets that lay before Gilbert. And yet he said this all with the same amused smile. He took out a spare shirt from a bag he had brought with him, working on removing his own turtleneck.
“It isn’t weird! I just… I like taking stuff from others! It’s my conquering nature!” Gilbert declared and puffed his chest out with pride… of course he wasn’t going to admit to Peter that the reason he always stole his clothing to wear was because he liked being surrounded by that comforting smell that lingered with Peter and how warm he felt there. That would be absurd. Peter understood anyway and didn’t need the explanation. “Besides, you know I can never keep warm under mere blankets alone! And these are hospital blankets so they are thin and useless.”
Peter had removed his shirt at this point and passed it over to Gilbert. Gilbert seemed quite pleased by the offering and took a moment to stare at his shirtless boyfriend before pulling the fabric over his head. He let out a sigh of relief once he had the slightly oversized sweater on. He pulled it down so it covered his hips (much more comfortable than the hospital gowns, which only tied in the middle of his back and left all kinds of areas unawesomely exposed) and snuggled into the sweater.
Gilbert tilted his head down so some of the fabric of the turtleneck could cover the lower half of his face, breathing in the smell but stopping once he realized that Peter was staring at him.
Peter shook his head a bit then smirked at Gilbert for a moment before pulling on his spare shirt and changing the subject.
“How long do you have to stay here?” Peter asked. He moved down the bed so he could sit closer to Gilbert. Gilbert responded to his question with a shrug.
“I don’t know. They want to keep me here overnight, just to make sure I don’t have a concussion or anything like that. I could leave right now though! Just a bit tired…” he explained, laying back on the bed now while letting out a light yawn. Peter shifted so he could lean over Gilbert and smiled gently down at him.
“Busy day, huh? Well… I was supposed to go to Yong-soo’s this evening to play some War Zone…”
“You’re such a nerd.” Gilbert cut in. He reached up to poke at Peter a bit. “You play those computer games all the time with your nerd friends. You are lucky you were blessed with foxy-fine good looks, you know. Most nerds are ugly!”
“Well, if you really feel that way I guess I can go. You don’t want a /nerd/ as company after all…” Peter said with that same smirk on his face. He then started to move away. He might have gotten away if Gilbert had not reached up and grabbed onto one of his shoulders to stop him.
“Wait! …. Uh, I’m done talking. You may continue.” Gilbert said at first, going from confident to that classic ‘things-are-not-going-my-way-and-I-am-put-out’ pout of his. He knew he wouldn’t win the argument without adding in “…stay.” That did not seem to work either so Gilbert finally brought himself to use that one dreaded word he so rarely (if ever) used. “… /Please/?”
“Good bunny~” Peter commented and leaned down to give him a small kiss as a reward. “As I was saying, I was going to leave for War Zone but I can stay here if they make you spend the night.”
It was a hard choice for Peter. Giving up a night full of drinks, video games, ice cream and the necessary viewing of re-runs of science fiction shows. But the look of joy that flashed across Gilbert’s face was enough to push all that aside. Peter couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. He reached down and running his fingers through Gilbert’s hair.
“But you need to get some sleep, Gil.” He commented for he noticed Gilbert steadily becoming more and more tired. “I brought my laptop so I can do work while you sleep.”
“But you promise you’ll be here?” Gilbert questioned, eyes half open and struggling to stay awake, stubbornly fighting the urge to fall asleep as Peter’s fingers made their way gently through his hair.
“I promise. I swear by all the chocolate in the world, I’ll be here when you wake up and while you sleep”. Such a promise was indeed a big deal for Peter, being one of the biggest chocolate addicts in the world. Gilbert seemed to accept this promise. He nodded and let his eyes drift closed. He quickly fell into a deep sleep, looking peaceful and calm after his hectic day at the hospital. Peter sat there for a few minutes. He stroked Gilbert’s head and watched his lips move a bit in his sleep, muttering out soundless words. He stood up from the bed after a while and collected some blankets and put them over Gilbert.
He stayed there for a few more moments. He pulled up a chair right next to the bed and sat down in the chair, reaching out to hold Gilbert’s hand while he watched the patient peacefully sleeping.
“You need to start taking better care of yourself.” He said quietly now that he was sure that Gilbert was fast asleep and not listening. “You worried me again… you know I am no good at handling these kinds of situations.” Steel fortress on the outside, but anytime Gilbert ended up in the hospital Peter became a mess of stress and worry on the inside.
Peter’s moment of what he believed was solitary monologue was cut off as Gilbert opened an eye, a large grin spreading over his once ‘peacefully sleeping’ face.
“Caught ya confessing for love for me!” he said and opened both of his eyes. He sent a wink at Peter to show how the entire ‘falling alseep’ had been a scam. (Little did Peter know he actually /did/ fall asleep at first… but he woke up just in time to hear those words.)
Peter seemed shocked at first, blinking with confusion, but then smiled and responded. “Hey, that’s not fair! You took advantage of my worry for your health.” He said first, and then followed with a smirk. “Looks like I am going to have to teach you a lesson and punish you for that…”
----
A bit later…
The new nurse was walking by the rooms, on her way to a specific patient when she heard the cry.
“No, doctor! You CAN’T violate me~~ Stooooooop~”
… was that coming from Mr. Weillschmidt’s room? The nurse turned the corner towards where she heard the sound coming from and peeked in the door. Bad idea, because the situation in there almost made her drop all her medical supplies in shock.
Indeed this was Gilbert’s room, the patient laying on the bed… but someone else was there as well. The blond visitor who had walked in was looming over him on the bed, who had somehow gotten hold of one of the doctor’s jackets (with no shirt on under the jacket apparently) and was pinning the patient down onto the bed.
“Shhhh, not so loud Mr. Weillschmidt. You be a good patient while I continue the examination~”
The new nurse had no idea what to make of the situation. She was frozen there, until one of the other nurses saw her looking in the door and moved over to the room. She saw the situation as well, but the other nurse actually opened the door and stepped in. “You guys! What did I say last time about hospital policy!?”
The two men on the bed looked to the door from their position, and the room was silent for a few moments.
“…. Put a hat on the doorknob when playing out kinky roleplay fantasi-“
“No, Mr. Weillschmidt. No sex allowed in hospitals. OR stealing hospital regulation uniforms for that.” This was followed by the nurse muttering something about ‘friggen sex-crazed patients’ and leaving the room. As she left the room she took the new nurse with her to escort her away from the door.
The new nurse seemed terribly confused, still trying to keep the medical supplies she was carrying from falling on the ground. “Aren’t you going to go back to make sure they listen to orders?” she questioned.
“Naw, they’ll just go and do it anyway. At least now they’ll be quiet about it.” The other nurse answered without skipping a beat. “At least I hope they’ll keep it down. I don’t think that pediatrics patients will keep believing my ‘That’s just the air vents’ stories if this keeps up.”
