So here he is, standing straight, fixing his jacket, fixing his hair and checking for pickle breath, wondering what the fuck he is doing because it's just so gay.
He is also having second thoughts about this whole confession thing.
Alfred swallows nervously, bad habits kicking in as he shoves his hands into his jacket nervously and kicks at the ground with his freshly polished hopefully-doesn't-scream-gay shoes.
It's fairly isolated and quiet and Matthew is in the men's room. It should be fine to do it here, because no one really comes to this hallway anyway, especially when the washroom is fifteen minutes away from the meeting room and they only have five minutes' worth of break.
But Alfred doesn't really care at this point whether they are going to be late or not, since the gay has chewing him inside out for the past few months and slowly killing him on the inside. Seriously, is it even healthy to dream the same dream about Matthew panting underneath him every night?
What if Matthew says no? Can he convert back to being straight? Maybe he'll find someone as gay and as cute as Matthew, but Alfred himself doubts that.
However, it's either now or never because he's finally gathered all the heroic courage he has to drag a protesting Matthew to a bathroom fifteen minutes away from everyone else and confess. Alfred shuffles through his cue cards, reciting lines under his breath as he continues to wait and stiffens when he hears the blow drier come on from inside.
His heart begins to race and he prays that his not-so-gay lines would be able to come out right for someone gay like Matthew. He also prays that he won't make it sound so awfully straight that Matthew would turn away in disgust like he's just seen a wooden ruler.
"Al?"
Alfred lets out a shriek, dropping his cue cards everywhere and Matthew jumps at the noise in reflex before automatically bending to pick up the cue cards--
"... Al, what's this?"
"DON'T LOOK AT IT!" Alfred snatches them from Matthew's hand, flushed and stuttering and his blue eyes are wide with shock. But what shocks him the most is the big smile on Matthew's face and how... how amused and happy Matthew looks.
He gets a kiss, then another one. Arms wrap around Alfred and he receives another kiss before Matthew pulls away and entwine their fingers together. "I don't think they'd be happy if we're gone for so long, Al. Especially when two perfectly normal men don't usually go to the bathroom together for thirty minutes."
Alfred's brain finally catches up and he scratches the back of his head awkwardly, laughing. "Right! It's not like we're gay or anything."
He watches as Matthew rolls his eyes and leads the way, for once, back toward the meeting room, only because Alfred lets him lead the way, of course. But he cannot help that big, idiotic and lop-sided smile that is plastered onto his face.
A crumpled cue card flutters to the ground as they leave.
Your socks are red, And my socks are blue. Will you come to my bed? Because I really like you.

Comic!anon here, just to let you know this is the most FABULOUS FILL EVERRR.
I could have read like, ten more parts of just Alfred being fabulously confused about himself. I mean.. CUE CARDS. And I almost wish he had stuck with his 'fix it with sex' plan, but the ending was so sweet and funny, right down to the poem. Oh Alfred~ <3
hahahaha gay beam! You are so witty and creative hahaha. This story totally made my night and is totally sweet and is like 100% in character with Alfred being the cutest(stupidest?) thing. * U*
AMERICA. HE IS SO. SO. SOOOOOOO AMERICAN. It's like, he's trying to figure out something which he should know by now, because doesn't he have a gay culture? But then again, he also has the whole GAYS ARE GAAAAY thing going on, which explains why he's so in denial and this was so cute and flurffy and daw and I can barely type straight because I'm giggling and aw-ing and going OMGICANSOSEETHATISAWTHATBEFOREANDTHERETOOANDOMGOMGTHISISAWESOOOOOOOMMMMMUH.

(Anonymous) 2009-05-05 01:52 am (UTC)(link)I love how often the word "gay" happened. And in the contexts.
"This isn't funny, God."
Oh, Alfred. How American. XD
