I'm not sure I agree with your overall characterization, but there were some lovely moments in here. For some reason it stood out that they used to sit listening to the radio, which gave a nice sense of time to the piece. I also liked that the submission was going on for years before sex came into it, and clearly is still more about comfort than sex.
