Pleased to hear you enjoyed the demeaning language, I knew I liked it but I didn't realise *quite* how much of a kink of mine it was until I was writing this. And his hero complex does leave him quite vulnerable to that kind of emotional blackmailing, doesn't it? Poor boy!
