Re: Russia - Secretly religious

I apologise to any Russian orthodox readers (and other readers) for getting everything wrong. An accurate fill would be great! I just loved the prompt so much I couldn't resist.

'Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me.'

'Give me the strength to forgive my enemies and love them like You said.' Russia knew he was missing parts of his prayer, but his book and bible had been taken away from him and burnt by his boss. But he must forgive his boss. He must.

'Please protect my brothers and sisters living in my house, and allow me to protect them and help them follow You again.' Russia knew that nobody else in his house was able to pray. He had to punish them if he found them doing so, and then try to find a priest who would help him repent, without giving either of them away.

'And please, protect my children who are in the camps for you.' Russia sighed. Perhaps he was asking too much of God. He had a lot of children in the camps. But God would give him what he needed! God would provide for him, and for all his children.

Russia closed his eyes and repeated his prayer to Jesus once again. 'Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me.'

Then he closed the doors on his small wooden icon and hid it in the headboard of his bed. He wished he could have lit some candles and incense, but that would have been too suspicious and difficult to hide from his boss and the other people living in his house.

After that he stood up, brushed off his knees and prepared for the day. It was a Wednesday, so he would be fasting, though that may be difficult as he had a daylong meeting with his boss. Perhaps he could just say his stomach was upset. He often had an upset stomach these days, so that wouldn't be too strange. He would have to arrange for the food he wouldn't be able to eat to be given to the hungry people on the streets.

When he arrived in the kitchen, he found a steaming mug of tea and some bread with jam (but not butter) set out on the table for him. He smiled; he loved his older sister. Perhaps he would allow her to pray with him in the mornings, and she would be able to help him with what he had forgotten. But she would have to keep it a secret, just for the two of them.
