Unlucky Hands 3a/?

Bittaflashyback // & sorry if I end with a lot of random updats. I actually have a few WIPs besides this ; _ ;

“Where are you headed off to, Alfred?” Tino Oxenstierna asked, buckling up his own boots. The soft-spoken man adjusted his identification bracelet, strong leather inter-locking the Spades and Diamonds symbol. He was packing up his bags to head across the ocean for a short visit to his friends in Hearts, and it always helped to have an item to show diplomatic importance.

Alfred whipped his head around, noticing his ‘Mom’ at the door. He had bolted down the stairs humming to himself, adjusting his coat and cuffs as he got ready to take his horse down to the Royal Diamond Manor. The heir to the Jack position, a great military power, had invited him over again for a round of recreational shooting.

“Oh, crap, hey Mom. You and Father going to Hearts,today?” Alfred chuckled, scratching his head. He prayed that Matthew would be at home watching over the home. He usually was.

Tino gave Alfred a look. The latter laughed nervously.

“I have an appointment at with Diamonds. You know Vash, right? We were planning to-“

Tino sighed. He knew his younger son had a thing with adventure and oddly, one-person shooting. While the older twin remained relatively reserved and polite, Alfred made it quite clear to the world what he preferred. It made Tino often a bit worried for the poor girl (or boy, Tino always corrected himself, given the fact Alfred was a potential Bearer) who accepted Alfred’s hand in marriage. The boy was too thrill-seeking for his own good. “Say no more. Your Father and I will probably be leaving later in the day. Berwald’s gone to see the Spades Jack to see if they have issues to ask Hearts. We have an old friend back in Hearts, and I’m just headed to the market for food to last you two for the week. I feel remorse that you’ve forgotten our anniversary.”

“Heh heh, sorry Mom.”

“Don’t worry. Still, you cannot expect Matthew to be at home all the time.”

Alfred’s lips pressed together, the mouth on the verge of becoming a pout. “Mom, I’m 19. I think I know my responsibilities.”

Tino hugged his son. “I know, Alfred. Still, be careful.”

“It’s Diamonds. It’s like safe, Mom. You know more than anyone!” Alfred flexed his arm jokingly. “Plus, if I wanted, I could join the army and easily climb the ranks with these bad guys!”

Alfred’s mother chuckled unsure. “Tell Vash I said hello. Now get going so you’re back before pitch dark. Our carriage to the dock arrives at dinner.”
