The Hospital Visit (Part 3 / 4?)

Peter shook his head a bit then smirked at Gilbert for a moment before pulling on his spare shirt and changing the subject.

“How long do you have to stay here?” Peter asked. He moved down the bed so he could sit closer to Gilbert. Gilbert responded to his question with a shrug.

“I don’t know. They want to keep me here overnight, just to make sure I don’t have a concussion or anything like that. I could leave right now though! Just a bit tired…” he explained, laying back on the bed now while letting out a light yawn. Peter shifted so he could lean over Gilbert and smiled gently down at him.

“Busy day, huh? Well… I was supposed to go to Yong-soo’s this evening to play some War Zone…”

“You’re such a nerd.” Gilbert cut in. He reached up to poke at Peter a bit. “You play those computer games all the time with your nerd friends. You are lucky you were blessed with foxy-fine good looks, you know. Most nerds are ugly!”

“Well, if you really feel that way I guess I can go. You don’t want a /nerd/ as company after all…” Peter said with that same smirk on his face. He then started to move away. He might have gotten away if Gilbert had not reached up and grabbed onto one of his shoulders to stop him.

“Wait! …. Uh, I’m done talking. You may continue.” Gilbert said at first, going from confident to that classic ‘things-are-not-going-my-way-and-I-am-put-out’ pout of his. He knew he wouldn’t win the argument without adding in “…stay.” That did not seem to work either so Gilbert finally brought himself to use that one dreaded word he so rarely (if ever) used. “… /Please/?”

“Good bunny~” Peter commented and leaned down to give him a small kiss as a reward. “As I was saying, I was going to leave for War Zone but I can stay here if they make you spend the night.”

It was a hard choice for Peter. Giving up a night full of drinks, video games, ice cream and the necessary viewing of re-runs of science fiction shows. But the look of joy that flashed across Gilbert’s face was enough to push all that aside. Peter couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. He reached down and running his fingers through Gilbert’s hair.

“But you need to get some sleep, Gil.” He commented for he noticed Gilbert steadily becoming more and more tired. “I brought my laptop so I can do work while you sleep.”

“But you promise you’ll be here?” Gilbert questioned, eyes half open and struggling to stay awake, stubbornly fighting the urge to fall asleep as Peter’s fingers made their way gently through his hair.

“I promise. I swear by all the chocolate in the world, I’ll be here when you wake up and while you sleep”. Such a promise was indeed a big deal for Peter, being one of the biggest chocolate addicts in the world. Gilbert seemed to accept this promise. He nodded and let his eyes drift closed. He quickly fell into a deep sleep, looking peaceful and calm after his hectic day at the hospital. Peter sat there for a few minutes. He stroked Gilbert’s head and watched his lips move a bit in his sleep, muttering out soundless words. He stood up from the bed after a while and collected some blankets and put them over Gilbert.

He stayed there for a few more moments. He pulled up a chair right next to the bed and sat down in the chair, reaching out to hold Gilbert’s hand while he watched the patient peacefully sleeping.

“You need to start taking better care of yourself.” He said quietly now that he was sure that Gilbert was fast asleep and not listening. “You worried me again… you know I am no good at handling these kinds of situations.” Steel fortress on the outside, but anytime Gilbert ended up in the hospital Peter became a mess of stress and worry on the inside.

Peter’s moment of what he believed was solitary monologue was cut off as Gilbert opened an eye, a large grin spreading over his once ‘peacefully sleeping’ face.

“Caught ya confessing for love for me!” he said and opened both of his eyes. He sent a wink at Peter to show how the entire ‘falling alseep’ had been a scam. (Little did Peter know he actually /did/ fall asleep at first… but he woke up just in time to hear those words.)
