Self-explanatory. Here you can talk with other anons about fills, prompts, past connections, anything related to the kink meme!

Please try to keep this post ON TOPIC to discussions related to the kink meme, like rule changes, help finding lost prompts, and questions/discussion pertaining directly to fills or prospective fills. If you just want to talk about Hetalia in an anonymous environment, please head over to [personal profile] aphanon_meme

Re: Looking for prompts

Thank you so much! There are definitely a few prompts that I liked the look of there.

(I couldn't find most of the Omegaverse/Cardverse USUK prompts though)

Constant misfires

Is there a technical bug on the meme or lots of new people because I feel like every time I go to a page, there's a misplaced fill or a comment. I feel like a dick since I'm basically complaining about high activity, but come on. Pay attention to where you're posting your stuff.

It happened to me too on the first fill I posted on the kink meme. I was so paranoid about getting everything right, I kept editing and reediting the story to make it sound perfect. Apparently, if you preview/edit a comment four or more times, it causes the post to show up as a new comment rather than under the comment you replied to.

However, I don't see any excuse for incorrect formatting or not posting to the fills list, since there is a rule book, and as a newer member I made sure I understood everything before actively participating in the meme.

When I first started reading here, I was all about Canada. After a while, my tastes changed toward Estonia. But these days I'm mostly into Norway, Denmark, and Iceland. Haven't found a lot that was to my taste recently though.

I used to be more into "dark" stories, but these days I avoid it.

!! Someone else who likes America/Norway? Surprising! Do you have know of any canon-universe fics with that? I've only seen fanart.

Hehe, yeah, rare as heck ship, and yet there are requests for it on here.

As for canonverse, there's this fill here on the kink meme: http://hetalia-kink.dreamwidth.org/77772.html?thread=470294476#cmt470294476

Other's that I can think of off the top of my head off site are:
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7675958/1/Snowstorm
http://archiveofourown.org/works/1883094/chapters/4057131
http://allfornorway.tumblr.com/post/71869128144/he-was-his-first-love-his-first-time-and-as-long-he
http://goldensilvers.tumblr.com/post/44032313645
http://aphbayley.tumblr.com/post/86301078828/a-beach-smile

Non-canon verse, I suggest this one, it's one of my favorites: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8450619/1/Boil-the-Full-Kettle

Also typing up this post reminded me of how there's a decent number of prompts for AmeNor, but no fills. I'll have to do a fill or two soon.

OH now that I see it again, I've actually seen that one by goldensilvers, it's cute! (I think they had a previous username and I lost the url... but at least I have it again now!)

Hmm, I should write something too. Maybe I'll tackle something after I get through the stuff I'm working on!

Haha, yeah, that one is pretty cute c:

Yeah, same, but maybe I'll do something quick since I spotted a few prompts that caught my eye a while back.

There's one on Ao3 called A Patient Love. I don't know if it's to your tastes because of how old Alfred is and his personality at the beginning of the fic. But I'm fond of Arthur is characterized. Scratch that. I adore his characterization. The setting is based off of Tudor England.

I've been using the meme as a writer and a reader for three years now, and I still occasionally make the odd mistake and click the wrong button for where I want to post something! Mistakes do happen, and honestly what's a lot worse than the misfires is how rude some of the people are responding to them. It could be an honest mistake, it could be someone just not giving a damn about the rules - but as long as we're all on anon, who knows which it is? Sure, it's good to tell people where they went wrong with their misfires and incorrectly labelled prompts, but couldn't we at least try to be polite about it? We hardly want to be scaring new people away.

OP here! Thanks for passing that one along - it's rare to find cute yuri, and I've not read it before.

That one's called Lorem Ipsum, I think? Couldn't find the LJ link, but google gives the DW link here: http://hetalia-kink.dreamwidth.org/80823.html?thread=487190711#cmt487190711

Re: Constant misfires

(Anonymous) 2014-08-16 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Are people being rude? Probably. Why? Because it's really annoying that every other post seems to be a comment posted in the wrong place, or a request that's not formatted properly (despite the numerous examples, including a model one from the mods themselves.)

Do mistakes happen? Of course. But I remember the meme being a lot more active than it is now and mistakes were never this common so there's probably more to it than that. It's not hard to check that you're posting in the right place, it's not hard to report to the mods when you fudge it and it's not hard to follow the rules.

Re: Constant misfires

(Anonymous) 2014-08-16 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
There is still no need to be so rude with people, however annoying it is. If the problem vexes you so much, notify the mods about the post and then scroll on by. It'll get fixed at some point anyway, and being rude to people scares people off. Not just the poster you're replying to, but other people scrolling by who see the pointless arguing.

I recall the meme being a lot more active too, and there were a LOT more mistakes being made then than now! There was a greater mod presence to deal with the greater post volume at the time, so of course things got deleted a lot more quickly if they were posted incorrectly.

As it is, posts that don't follow the rules get deleted anyway. People learn that if they don't follow the rules, their posts don't stick around, and so they learn to follow the rules. With how slow-paced the meme is these days, it doesn't hurt to have a little patience.

Diff!Anon

(Anonymous) 2014-08-16 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
A few days I notified the mods with a list of links to at least 5/6 misfires and incorrectly formatted prompts, and they have yet to do something about it. I wouldn't mind these issues so much if they were quickly taken care of, but when it just lies around there (like the person who posted their entire fill in the fills list) it just bothers me because I can't really cope with people doing that.

The difference between an accident and plain obliviousness to the rules is that in an accidental mispost the person usually says something like "Sorry, delete". New anons make this mistake, and then never check back again so they don't see what people instruct them to do. I got so frustrated last requesting period because there was a person who repeatedly posted the same wrong prompt after having it taken down by the mods.

Re: Diff!Anon

(Anonymous) 2014-08-16 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. I've messed up on the meme as well. It happens. But if I don't see a comment saying "oops sorry", I'm going to assume the poster either doesn't care or doesn't know they messed up. And I can't accept either. The very first thing that's said on the meme's main page is to read the rules.

With the mod(s) being busy/generally away, I really don't want to see this meme turn into a junk yard where people post whatever they please wherever they please. I've always felt that one of the best things about this kink meme was the prompt formatting and the fills list because they make everything so easy and smooth.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-16 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you the anon that replied second to the incorrect format post on the fills list?

It seems like people here are trying too hard to be polite in order to avoid offending anyone, and to make new anons happy. Comparing comments from several years ago to now, people were a lot more blunt with what they did or didn't like. Nowadays pointing out an issue with a story gets about fifty anons disagreeing with you and trying to make A!A feel good about themselves.

I only joined the meme a few months ago, but for weeks I watched how other people filled, and when I first actively participated I had the rules out on a separate page so I could ensure I was doing everything right. Therefore I don't see any excuse for new users "messing up". No reason to scream at them, yes, but when people say "Aw, just let it slide. They must be new here", it really pisses me off, because they need to read the rules sooner or later. I'm pretty obsessive about neatness too, so I don't like seeing the meme running into this 'rules optional' state.

Re: +1

(Anonymous) 2014-08-18 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with everything you just said. The rules are there for a reason; to keep the meme tidy and running well. Disregarding the rules, and coddling people who disregard the rules, will just allow the meme to get messy, disorganised and not very fun.

Just look at pages 35-36. There's one misfired comment on 35 and two incorrectly formatted requests, while on 36, there's two misfired fills. Not to mention that someone posted their entire fill in the fills list. It's annoying and people are getting frustrated with it because it's happening all the time.

If OP doesn't mind filling omegaverse prompts, I'd love to see fills for these fics:

Any - Omegaverse, How A/B/O Dynamics Affect Their Lives/Jobs As Nations
http://hetalia-kink.dreamwidth.org/84399.html?thread=512308655#cmt512308655

Asian nations - Everyday Life
http://hetalia-kink.dreamwidth.org/84399.html?thread=511960239#cmt511960239

If you don't do omegaverse fics, then you can just ignore this.

The worst part about this is that these new anons don't come back and look at what they did wrong. I commented on the second misfire, giving a short explanation on why the post wasn't correct, and pointed out they needed to add new stories to the fills list. There was no response from anon, so I went ahead and posted it correctly and added it to the fills list for them.

I think it's partially also the fact that the mods are very inactive, because I linked them to a majority of the issues that have been lying around uncorrected, and they have yet to do something about it.

Yes, it's not too hard for experienced users to 'fix' things for the new users, but it's irritating when they continuously post incorrectly without learning or caring to learn the correct way.

Looking for a fill involving russia canada and america

I can't seem to find a fill I remember reading. Russia confuses canada and america for Lithuania and Latvia respectively. It'd be very appreciated of someone could tell me where to find it
