Help! I Can't Language Good!

Do you need some help with another language?
Do you know how to read / write a language that isn't modern English, and want to help your fellow anon?
If so, this is the place for you.

How this works:

You don't need to be anon when you are offering language aid.
When offering language aid, post a comment saying what language you will helping out with
- Put the language you want to help out in in the subject line
Only one language per thread please. "I can help out with French and Vietnamese," for example is wrong. French and Vietnamese should go into two separate comments.
If you are requesting spelling, semantic or grammar aid in another language you must remain Anonymous.
You may post a comment requesting language aid, providing you do it in anon mode and there isn't already a thread going on for that language.
If there is already an aid thread for your desired language going, don't start a new comment asking for help unless you posted to that existing thread, and haven't received a response in 7 days
Please stick to the topic at hand (language aide). This isn't the place for chit chat.
If you have had experience with a particularly good online language resource that actually works than feel free to link it here as a reply to the first comment.
- In the subject line, state what language it is and try to describe what the resource does.
- Links to resources go in the comment area.
No pimped out fonts or embedded videos are allowed. They will be deleted.
Just a note. If you do have phrases in other languages in your fills, it's only polite to include a translation in English at the bottom of your fill somewhere.

Hm, that's a good point, I have to admit. :D; Yeah, only a part of the current Finland was Swedish region at first. I suppose a part of "Finland" has always been under Russia.

Aye, the Kievan Rus' and Novgorod Republic in particular were a mix of Slavic tribes and Finnic tribes. (It would be tempting to leave a prompt about Sweden finding out about Finland's old, old, old marriage to Russia, except the Finnish-Novgorodian Wars make the matter a bit more complicated than that.)

xD Oh lol. They would have been just little kids then though. But Finland and even moreso the aforementioned Finnic tribes have always been in close relation to Russia. And still most Finno-Ugric languages are spoken only in Russia! (Yes, all those tiny little forgotten languages nobody's ever heard of. =__= That are mostly crushed by Russian language politics.)

I'm kind of tempted to write a fic about those Finnic peoples in Russia (as sort of cousins to Estonia and Finland and so) but well... I honestly have such little real knowledge of those peoples and their cultures...

I AM going to write about Saami someday though! =3= It's a promiiise. *... not* She's NOT just a part of Finland/Scandinavia. And randomly deciding she's a girl-nation-tan. Whatever.

Alas, nearly all of my fic attempts so far have ended in miscarriages. The only one that made it to term wasn't even about Finland. *facepalm*

Anon is sort of interested and willing to try it. I can't promise anything though because I'm incredibly bad at actually finishing fics but I'll do my best.

A few questions though. Do you mind some of them (Karelia, Mari El, Mordovia etc.) representing the Russian republics that bear their names as well as the relevant Finnic peoples? Or do you want them to be strictly Finnic peoples only?

Also, is it okay for Livonia to have been the Livonian Order in the past? (I know it's far more complicated than that but I thought it would be an interesting idea.)

Do you mind me setting it at the World Congress of Finno-Ugrian Peoples or the Festival of the Finno-Ugric Peoples just to make it easier?

The Russian republics were (theoretically) set up for the Finnic peoples, so there's the inevitable overlap. So yes, it's okay. =)
