Today it was officially announced that the United States and Cuban Governments would be restoring diplomatic relations with one another. Things aren't perfect but still a step in the right direction.

Today is also Canada Day, the day widely referred to as Canada's Birthday. While I am fairly certain that the announcement being made today is a coincidence, what immediately came to my mind when the President's announcement interrupted the show I was watching was America and Cuba sitting on the couch with Canada feeding him a late breakfast of pancakes, and then wishing him happy birthday right before the television switches to coverage of the announcement.

I imagine Cuba and America still arguing with each other as the relations are still very new, but trying to keep it civil for Canada's birthday, and then Canada crying happy tears with his brother and best friend (or more) no longer fighting.

This doesn't have to be a relation ship fic, but if it is I would prefer Canada/Cuba over America/Canada or Cuba/America. Or you could make it a threesome. Threesomes are always good. lol
