“You never did wonder why I wasn’t afraid of you.”
She looked into Ludwig’s blue eyes, sneering. “I should have known. Demon Slayer.”
He nodded, his blond hair disheveled. “Correct. I should have killed you before the sex.”
Inside, she cringed. When he had entered her, she had known he was the One. She had heard that sometimes a succubus would be really lucky and find the one being with which she could share her immortality with. Ludwig was her One, but he was a Slayer. “Then do it,” she said.
He shook his head, taking the knife from her throat. “I can’t. Why can’t I?” He sat up, putting his head in his hands, the knife sticking out ludicrously from his right fingers.
Prussia sat up and put a hand on his shoulder. Then, she laid her head on his collarbone. He took his head out of his hands, looking down at her. “Are you trying to comfort me?”
“Yes.”
They sat together in silence before he began to stroke her hair. She closed her eyes, surrounding herself with his scent and touch. “You can’t because you’re my One. When you took the last of my innocence, you also took a piece of me. We will be connected forever.”
“So, we can never be separated?”
“Never,” she murmured. “And I already think I don’t ever want to.”
He stroked her hair. “It will be difficult. My vows are to stop your kind from preying on humans.”
“I will never be able to feed from any other ever again,” she replied. “I am no longer a demon. I have Risen.”
He kissed her forehead. “Then feed from me, and we’ll figure out how to pave the way with my colleagues.”
“I can tell you where all the really dangerous demons prowl. I can tell you they hunt.” She looked up at him pleadingly. “I would gladly fight with your group.”
“You don’t mind selling out your brethren?” he asked. He studied her face, but could find no lies in her eyes.
“If it means staying by your side, I would destroy the world and hand it to you on a silver platter.” She snuggled back into his chest, her fingers playing with his stiffening nipple. “So, does this mean you love me?”

Ludwig smiled and laughed. “I guess it does.”
