"Don't keep me waiting like that," he mumbled. Romano lifted his free hand and ran it through his short blond hair.
"It's kind of funny, though." America stuck out his tongue.
"But I need you," came his muffled reply as he nuzzled into the side of his partner's chest. "I hate it when I can't be with you."
"I hate it too." Romano stopped his lazy petting and scooted down so he was more level with America. "But we'll try to get together whenever we can. Alright, caro?"
"Okay." The blond let a yawn slip and his eyes shut again. Romano touched his cheek gently.
"Sleep if you need to."
"Mmm."
There wasn't a response after that. The brunet fumbled for the blanket, pulling it up around the both of them as carefully as possible, taking extra precaution not to wake his sleeping partner. He got it up to their torsos and stopped there. That was enough. His arms wrapped around America protectively, pressing his nose into his partner's strawberry-scented hair, and he felt his own eyelids growing heavier.
"Ti amo," he murmured again, eyes shutting as he joined America in his dreams.

I am in no way fluent in Italian so I used a translator (/not/ Google, never Google) for some of Romano's dialect.
