I was going to say no, so long as it's understandable, but then I thought again, and realized I also won't read fills that are broken up before the character limit--for no reason other than the filler wants their story to look longer, so they break it up into parts for every five hundred to one thousand characters. If you're posting a single scene, and even with Author's Notes, you have less than four thousand characters, post it all in the same comment block, don't try and make it into multiple parts.

It annoys the hell out of me when a story or update takes up multiple comment boxes with only a paragraph or two each.

If the post on the fills list is longer than parts of the actual fill, the a!a has failed.

It's one thing to want discrete, small bits to stand out (tip: use some rows of symbols to create a visual break), but it pains me to see really short posts that should have been combined.

The character limit: take it as a challenge and fill up a block to bursting before hitting "post comment".

One of my few deal breakers. It's not impressive or selling yourself highly, to be able to stretch half the character limit across more than one comment.

+/- 1

I vary on this. If it obviously wasn't even long enough to be one comment box, I won't read it.

BUT, sometimes a!a's, myself included (which may explain my leniency on it) have it over the character limit, and look for somewhere to break it that makes sense. I try not to go more than a paragraph when I do that though, but I don't like breaking up conversations if I can avoid it.

I'm the same. I fill the comment box with whatever I wanted to put in it, then cut out until it breaks in a good spot that's within the character limit. I've had it where it ended up under 3500 characters in a comment box, but that was because I had a huge paragraph of description at the end that brought it just barely over the limit. The character limit is my arch-nemesis, haha. XD

Then you have a reason, and your case does not pertain to the comment to which you replied.

Being slightly over the character count and needing to break it up into two parts =/= having nine hundred words and posting it as three comments instead of as one comment.

That wasn't what this was about.

This bugs me the same way posting a fill in small caps would.
