How to use the word "cher" ?



Towards a guy :

Dear :
Mon cher XXX (name is optional)
Cher XXX (a name MUST follow)
(My) darling : Mon chéri.

Exemples :
You know, mon cher (Arthur), I would rather die than (...)
You should forget it, mon cher (Antonio).
Don't worry, cher Alfred.
Don't pay attention, mon chéri.


Toward a girl :

Dear :
Ma chère XXX (name is optional)
Chère XXX (name must follow)
Darling : Ma chérie.
