Rusamecan--I fell in love with metaphorical children 1/1

Canada looked over the two in front of him and reminded himself, like he always did, in a year this would be hilarious.

America was frowning (NOT pouting) with his arms crossed and glaring at Russia, whose usual smile was gone in place of a very childishly stuck out tongue. America returned the gesture before glancing at Canada as if hoping he hadn’t seen from his place two feet away.

Sometimes Canada wondered why he feel in love with such children. He sighed, not quite being able to frown when he thought of just how ridiculous the two looked.

“What happened this time?” he asked fondly. Russia frowned.

“We do not argue that much,” he said, his accent slightly thicker than usual.

“Aww, sweetie,” Canada said sympathetically. “Yes you do.”

“Do not!” It was America that time.

Canada rolled his eyes. “It’s the main reason you brought me into this relationship.”

“No, it wasn’t dude. It’s because we both liked you.”

“He is right—for once.”

“Okay, okay,” Canada cut in before they started to fight. “I know you both like me—we’ve had the conversation many, many times—but you still haven’t
told me what you’re arguing about this time.”

America frowned in a way that told Canada it wasn’t the end of the discussion, but answered anyway.

“He was supposed to do the dishes yesterday and didn’t and now he’s saying that since it’s my day he’s not going to do them anymore,” America said, pointing a finger towards Russia.

“No,” Russia said, giving America an unimpressed look, “I said I would not do all of them when half of them are from today.”

“You never once said anything like that.”

“Are you deaf?” Russia asked. “I’m the oldest, I should be the one with the hearing problems.”

“You say that as if you don’t.”

Canada whistled, the two other nations topping their fighting and turning towards him.

“Okay puppies,” he said, using a nickname he came up with the first time he realized that whistling would stop them from yelling, “I—”

“Dogs,” both of them corrected in unison.

“No. And you both have problems with hearing and can do the dishes together.” He turned to Russia. “Why didn’t you do them anyway? You’re usually good with chores.”

Russia blinked slightly, the suddenness Canada could come up with a solution still surprising him after all those years, before the question caught up with them.

“Uh, paperwork,” he said, still slightly shocked.

“That’s it?” Canada asked, slightly suspicious. Russia nodded.

“Can we question him more later?” America asked. “I’m tired from arguing and I wanna sleep.”

Russia flicked his nose. “You could have slept earlier.”

“I want to sleep with you two,” he clarified. “Er, not sex though.”

Canada laughed, walking over and hugging America slightly, leaning on him.

“Sure,” he agreed easily. “I’m kinda tired too. How ‘bout you Russia? Or are you too busy doing paperwork?” Canada asked teasingly. Russia raised his eyebrows, his lips twitching upwards.

“I did it already, didn’t I?”

Ah, first fill of Part 27! And one of my favorite polyamorous ships, no less.

The childishness between Russia and America is exactly how I picture their relationship, and I love how it was hinted that Canada was accustomed to being a mediator. Subtly snarky Canada is one of the best.

A!A here

Thank you so much! When I saw this prompt, I just couldn't help myself. I love rusamecan, and I'm glad you do too. Ot3s are so hard to come across in hetalia.
